Burns Family Acres Barnquilts

It’s TUESDAY again, and that means only 1 thing for us – #TuesdayTeamUp! A few years ago, we started a life group through newhope church. Libby and her husband, Ryan, were two of the first to join!  Their oldest daughter, Scarlett, is close to Ellie’s age and the two became good friends.  Then we were pregnant with our second babies at the same time!  Libby and Ryan are the type of friends that will drop everything to help you, as we witnessed when we got our van stuck in the snow!  They love the Lord, their two girls, Scarlett and Addie, and a good beer!  Here is a little of Libby’s back story before we launch into her product:

Libby met Ryan during freshman year of college and they’ve been inseparable ever since! Initially, they made Durham, NC their home, but recently decided to purchase land and build their dream home. Along with their two beautiful girls, they moved to Efland, NC to start creating a homestead!  While working full time as a research analyst at Duke, Libby is also launching BFA Barnquilts. If you are interested in farm life, raising chickens, breweries or Barnquilts, you will want to follow Libby on instagram at burnsfamilyacres!

So, you may be wondering why she chose to paint barnquilts. I asked the same question, and here was her reply:

“I wanted decor for the new house and I saw a very simple pattern on instagram one day and thought, “I could make that!”  Then I was hooked and looked for family members to make them for…whether they wanted one or not!  Painting is a huge help for my anxiety, so I feel good when I do it.  People started asking if I sell them, so I started!”

Libby has created quite the collection in the past year, and she typically photographs the barnquilts and features them on her instagram page!

You may be asking – what is a BARNQUILT? It is basically stained wood with a quilt pattern painted on it. You can customize everything about the pattern – the design, color, size of the finished product, etc. These pieces are really great in BARNS (duh), on the sides of houses, on screened in porches, or as decor inside your home!

Currently, Libby creates indoor barnquilts. However, she is working on expanding her shop to include barnquilts that are weather-proof and suitable for the outdoors – so exciting!

Libby’s creations from BFA Barnquilts are very reasonably priced. The smaller barnquilts (10in x 10in) are $25 if you purchase a pre-made design, or $30 if you want a custom design, while the larger barnquilts measure 22in x 22in and are $65 for a custom order.
